Hi, and welcome to Leppold's Mini Dachshunds. We are located in North Alabama, 15 miles north of Huntsville. My husband and I are just starting our kennel and are very excited about breeding miniature dachshunds.

I became interested in this breed many years ago.  My sister has had mini dachshunds for about 31 years now, and I knew someday I would have dachshunds too. I always told my mother growing up that I wanted to have 20+ dogs.  She always said "your husband might have something to say about that".  I replied "no he won't."  Well, fortunately, I was lucky enough to marry someone who understands and loves the dogs just as much as I do.  We don't quite have 20 dogs yet, but maybe someday (we are getting dangerously close).  We are trying to keep the kennel fairly small, and at this time, have 15 breeding dogs (three males and twelve females -- all longhair). We also have three dogs that are not part of the breeding program (for obvious reasons) and have been spayed/neutered -- a 3-1/2 legged dachshund, a 3 legged beagle,  and double dapple female dachshund.

All of our dogs are, first and foremost, our pets.  Each are given lots of love and attention. My dogs spend part of their days outside (weather permitting) so they can run and play and get their exercise, but do have shelter available. They always spend the night inside.  They are well-socialized and have great dispositions.  We breed for quality, conformation and disposition. All of our puppies will be born in the house and given lots of personal attention.

We will not knowingly sell to puppy mills, puppy brokers or pet shops.
